 🌿 Walking with Jesus

As Jesus walked among the people, He encountered many different hearts. Some carried kindness, while others carried hurt, pride, selfishness, and wounds they had not yet learned to heal.

He teaches us that an extremely selfish person can, sometimes without realizing it, awaken selfishness in the person beside them. When someone thinks only of themselves, the other person may begin to defend themselves, hold on to resentment, and respond with the same hardness. Thus begins a cycle of anger, demands, suffering, and discomfort.

Jesus did not teach us to repay evil with evil. He sought to understand the human heart, but understanding does not mean accepting everything. He knew that loving also means setting boundaries, stepping away from what hurts us, and protecting the peace that God has placed within us.

In a relationship between a couple, selfishness can create even deeper wounds. When dialogue, respect, affection, and consideration are missing, distance can quietly grow. And when betrayal occurs, the pain can deeply affect the trust and dignity of the person who was hurt.

Jesus knows this human pain. He would not approve of lies or betrayal, but neither would He teach someone to live dominated by hatred or the desire for revenge. His actions always pointed toward truth, responsibility, and the possibility of a new beginning when the heart truly changes.

Perhaps today Jesus tells us:

“Do not allow another person’s selfishness to turn your heart into a place of bitterness. You do not have to become what is hurting you.

Observe the actions, recognize the truth, and protect your peace. Forgiving does not mean forgetting what happened or allowing the same wound to be opened again.

If someone has betrayed your trust, do not carry the weight of that pain alone. Give to God what you cannot resolve. Seek the truth, preserve your dignity, and choose not to answer one wound with another.

I am beside you even in those moments when you cannot understand why someone you loved was capable of acting selfishly.

Do not let another person’s actions decide who you will become.

Keep your heart strong, but do not allow it to become hardened. The truth may hurt, but it can also set you free.”

May we learn from Jesus to recognize selfishness without allowing it to contaminate our hearts, to face betrayal without losing our dignity, and to go through anger without allowing it to govern our actions.

May God heal wounded hearts, enlighten those who need to recognize their own mistakes, and give wisdom to everyone who must make difficult decisions within their relationships.

🙏 Our Father, who art in Heaven...
