The Truth That Sets Us Free
Jesus taught us that truth is the path to freedom. Many people hide their true reality because of shame, fear of rejection, or because they fail to recognize the value God has given them. They put themselves down, believing they have no beauty, no worth, or no qualities that make them deserving of love.
When a person loses sight of their God-given dignity, they may accept unhealthy relationships simply to avoid being alone. They may no longer care about the other person's character, values, work ethic, or sense of responsibility. The desire to fill an inner emptiness becomes stronger than the wisdom to choose what is truly good.
Jesus never condemned those who had lost their way. Instead, He welcomed them with compassion while calling them to a transformed life. True love does not lead us to live in deception or to justify choices that distance us from God's will. It invites us to examine our lives honestly and to build relationships founded on respect, responsibility, and truth.
It is also important to understand that a family can welcome someone with love without approving every decision they make. Genuine love is always joined with truth and seeks what is best for those we care about.
When someone repeatedly moves from one relationship to another without finding peace or stability, the deeper issue may not only be the people they choose, but the wounds within their own heart that still need healing. Only God can fill the emptiness of the human heart and restore our self-worth, reminding each of us of the immeasurable value we have as His children.
"Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free."
John 8:32
May we ask the Lord today for the courage to live in truth, to recognize our worth as God's children, and to make choices that lead to peace, love, and lasting happiness.
